My client, a leading global insurer is seeking to recruit a Technology Platform Manager to join the Technology team in London. The Technology team operates on a global basis and they are looking for a team player to assist in building out the Global Platform discipline and function.

There are 4 towers of technology which are aligned to Business Capabilities and each is owned by a Platforms Director

This is an exciting role for someone with drive and enthusiasm for Platforms (Applications) Management to work in the Finance Tower and be involved in the full lifecycle from Design through to Run. This person will also help to understand the Finance Platforms roadmap, priorities and relate to the current Landscape.

The Platform Finance Manager will be someone who looks at business capabilities, processes and data and with the relevant Platform Director see how technology can enable,. define and prioritise any business capability gaps with Business units and determine the right Technology Solution(s).

The role will support the Finance Platform Directors to ensure both design and change decisions are in alignment with the Strategic Capabilities of the business as well as our policies, procedures, and best practice guidelines.

Duties

  • Through deep Business and Technology knowledge with experience of Product Management will ensure correct Technology and solution decisions.
  • Management of roadmaps and key platforms working with the Platform Directors to prioritise any technology requests, solution options prior to submission to Project Approval Board, to provide optimum choices.
  • Managing transition and integration of current in-flight business changes into Platforms
  • Translates business capabilities to current Platforms designs or, identify other Technology which can fulfil
  • Leading internal resources and/or 3rd party partners to deliver solution and Platform designs.
  • SME within the technology function for Platforms working collaboratively with IT and relevant governance to achieve effective resolution of related incidents.
  • Single point of contact who engages wider Platforms functions (Data, Build, Test & Release) & other Technology functions as required to meet business needs.
  • Collaborating with other technology functions (Architecture, Programme Portfolio Management, Regional IT & IT Services) to provide an end-to-end service to business colleagues.
  • Working with Business Leaders & Technology to support the right data decisions, controls and assurances are built into technology design
  • Working to support Business Control compliance through technology and responsible for ensuring IT Controls are incorporated into Systems
  • Working with Projects to ensure the right Platform outcomes, in line with business needs & aligned to PLRE technology roadmaps are delivered
  • Drive continuous improvement across all platforms including involvement in process consistency and platform best practice
  • Manage backlog of delivery initiatives

Skills/Experience

Essential

  • Experience of financial processes within the financial services sector
  • Experience of ERP Operational system integrating with People Soft or Financial Accounts Systems
  • Experience of managing change and run of Platforms (Applications) within Insurance or Financial Service Solutions would be essential however, other Finance Technology experience would be considered.
  • Use of ERP and Analytical Platforms
  • Experience in leading or worked with multiple change Programmes and subsequently stabilising or supporting user adoption would be key.
  • Managed or delivering Global based Platform services across multiple regions.
  • Good relationship skills and working with multiple stakeholders with experience setting up a new Operate Model
  • Previously lead the implementation of, or worked within Product leadership, Agile methodologies & Dev Ops is required
  • Experience of major change delivery and operations using key methodologies and frameworks is required.
  • Proven experience of working with third parties and manging performance is key.

Experience coordinating with a virtual team across multiple territories to apply best practice

Desirable

  • Experience of specific re-insurance industry would be desirable but other industries would be considered.
  • Any Regulatory and/or Statutory reporting experience would be desirable.
  • Knowledge of SAP or ERP integration with any Actuarial platforms including planning, reconciliation, valuation & risk would be beneficial.
