NPI Engineer

Reports to: Associate Director, NPI Engineering

This role is based in our Cambridge, MA office, and we are looking for someone to be onsite in the office every week, though not necessarily every day.


Overview

We're looking for a NPI Engineer who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of patients and how medicines are delivered today.


The NPI engineer will be part of the New Product Engineering team that transfers the latest products from development to mass production. The NPI engineer will take part in designing tools, fixtures and jigs to support robust manufacturing of products.

The NPI Engineer will work closely with other disciplines in the organization to coordinate various activities such as purchasing, R&D, Quality, Planning, Production etc.

The NPI Engineer shall be a part of the Operations department to lead NPI engineering activities with turnkey suppliers, and responsible to lead the company's next product generations.

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for timelines and deliverables in order to meet product's goals in aspect of DFX objectives
  • Be responsible for building Product/Production file, Product documentation, BOM, jigs/tools/Fixtures design
  • Configuration control, lead Engineering Change Orders & responsible for conducting product ECO process
  • Manage and control activities for producing systems and sub-systems local and overseas throughout the project lifecycle
  • Work with and managing sub contractors for production lines (mechanical/ electromechanical).
  • Lead the product design transfer from R&D to production.
  • Solve complex electronics failures to assure smooth production ramp-up and to meet the products yield KPI.
  • Track and analyze product defects to identify high value product and process improvements.
  • Support design transfer from pilot to mass production of Portal's needle-free drug delivery device.
  • Proactively manage component obsolescence; identify and qualify second source and replacement parts.

  • BSc degree in Mechanical/Electrical engineering
  • Minimum 4 years of proven experience in engineering environment
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience in mechanical/board design.
  • Proven experience with TK project management and suppliers
  • Systematic thinking, leadership and management skills
  • Ability to solve technical problems while working on multi-disciplinary products.
  • Experience working with CAD system such as solid works
  • Experience in Tools & Process validation
