(fulltime / fixed term)

Position Purpose

The position is located within the Research and Clinical Bioanalytics (RCB) department of CSL Behring Innovation GmbH, Research. The facility provides regulatory compliant bioanalytical assays for the analysis of samples derived from preclinical as well as clinical studies. We are highly dedicated to identify, implement and validate new, innovative technologies and state of the art methodology driven by our promise to care for our patients.

The incumbent will lead a team and contribute scientifically and technically to existing projects across the Therapeutic Areas (TAs) Hematology, Immunology, Respiratory, Transplant and Cardiovascular & Metabolism and under consideration of all relevant aspects of a regulated environment. All activities will be aligned with respective functionalities in CSL's global research and development framework.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Provides technical expertise and leadership to the assigned team members with all corresponding responsibilities to achieve specified research project objectives within defined time parameters
  • Provide high level scientific expertise and guidance in compliant bioanalytics
  • Involved with setting project objectives and in defining and implementing scientific and technical strategy
  • Contribute to the planning, performance, evaluation and reporting of scientific experiments at the highest levels of scientific integrity
  • Maintain laboratory`s accreditation (DIN ISO 17025) and certification (GLP) status
  • Interacts with authorities during inspections
  • Responsible for adherence to safety regulations within RCB and partners with EHSS to achieve local site safety targets
  • Actively participate in the innovation process by identifying new opportunities, which could feed into the CSL development pipeline
  • Drive development of new capabilities to support all TAs.
  • Keep updated with regulatory as well as technical landscape and contribute with novel analytical approaches
  • Actively contribute to identify, contracting and oversight of external partners in relevant technologies
  • Develop experimental study designs, evaluate results, prepare study plans and generate reports in English (possibly relevant for submission to agencies)
  • Plan and release of equipment qualifications and bioanalytical method validations
  • Serve as function's representative across early to late stage development activities
  • Professionally collaborate in international and global cross functional expert teams
  • Strive the procurement of new devices and systems
  • Ensure maintaining of laboratory equipment according to GLP & GCLP quality standards in cooperation with in- or external service providers

Experience in the following areas is of advantage

  • Leadership experience
  • Scientific expertise in at least of the following TAs preferred: Haematology, Respiratory, Immunology
  • Sound knowledge of the international regulatory framework (GLP, DIN ISO 17025)
  • Technical and problem solving skills
  • Experience in bioanalytical methods and techniques in the relevant fields of coagulation, fibrinolysis, immunology, transplant and/ or cardiovascular and metabolism
  • Experience with data management and data standards to drive digital transformation


  • Postgraduate degree (preferably MSc or PhD) and / or extensive experience in relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant industry experience and / or equivalent experience in a relevant academic environment.
  • Track record of scientific achievement in relevant Life Sciences discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing and / or contributing to highly effective teams.
  • Experience working in cross-functional, multicultural and international teams.
  • Experience in project work and excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (English language).
