As a Software Services Manager Senior within PNC's Business Technology & Innovation organization, you will be based within PNC's footprint. This is a remote position and can sit anywhere within the PNC footprint, except for Colorado, Hawaii or Alaska. There is limited expectation for regular in person, in office activities.

The Software Services Manager Senior, is responsible for the designing, building and maintaining account opening platform components that will be leveraged across all Lines of Business in all channels for retail banking. This role will partner closely with the individual product teams across various lines of business to enable and accelerate account opening capabilities. An in-depth understanding of technology, industry products and services, is necessary as well as a thorough understanding of strategic direction. This leader will be responsible for determining the technical approach to implementing strategy as well as executing it.

Key Initiatives:
Take the lead on the design, implementation, and successful delivery of large-scale software solutions with long-term impact on product, technology or architecture.
Design approaches and contribute significantly in refactoring or improving architectural quality. Identify and tackle intrinsically hard problems that are highly complex, ambiguous, undefined, with less existing structure, or having significant business or security risk or potential for significant impact.
Deliver artifacts that set the standard within the organization for engineering excellence, from designs to algorithms to implementations.
Lead and actively participate in design reviews, aligning teams across the various product teams towards coherent architectural strategies. You bring clarity to complexity, probe assumptions, illuminate pitfalls, and foster shared understanding.
You are a pragmatic problem solver, applying judgment and experience to balance trade-offs between competing interests. You are flexible, adapting your approach to meet the needs of the team, project, and product.
Actively recruit as well as participate in the hiring/interview process.
Play a significant role in the career development of others, actively mentoring and educating the larger SDE community on trends, technologies, and best practices.
Keep abreast of industry trends. You effectively research and benchmark our technology against other competing software in the industry. You understand that many problems are not essentially new.
Ensure all retail architecture technology standards are developed, understood and adhered to.

Job Description

  • Manages multiple development projects, development groups and/or application support functions for a major business segment.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of multiple, complex, organization-wide systems .
  • Allocates and ensures resource arrangements during the application development life cycle .
  • Maintains relationships with clients to ensure the implementation quality of application systems .
  • Provides solutions or recommendations on complicated technology issues for application development and implementation .

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree. Higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications is desirable. Industry-relevant experience is typically 8+ years. At least 5 years of prior management experience is typically required. Proven leadership experience with a moderate to large scope of responsibility is required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
