Youth Employment Specialist Learning Disabilities Support Sector

Are you a graduate looking to launch your career? Would you like to join a large charity who support young people with learning disabilities and learning difficulties (autism / ADHD) to thrive in the world of work?Please note: This is a part time role at 18.75 hours weekly (this role is also open for full time at £21,328 for the right candidate)You MUST have access to your own car as this role requires outreach in the Greater Birmingham Area.The charity delivers a supported internship programme. Young people study employability & life skills whilst imbedding English and Maths on the course. As part of this, they will be allocated an employer to go on a work placement with. Your role will vary day to day, but could include:
  • Supporting the young person to plan their journey to work so they can become independent
  • Attending work with them, working closely with employers to provide support as needed
  • Help the young person apply for paid work with CV writing, job applications and interview preparation
  • End of day calls with the young person and employer to check on progress
  • Liaising closely with the tutor around potential extra support needs
You will have a caseload of 5 - 6 young people and you will be making a huge difference in their lives.To apply, you might be a recent graduate in a related degree such as psychology. Or you might have experience of working with young people with support needs, so could have worked as a tutor, teacher or learning support assistant or teaching assistant.
